K.T. McMurray in Youth Camp, youth

Hi, my name is K.T. McMurray. I’m 10 and live in Pullman, Washington. I’m a member of Wheatland Gallopers 4-H Club and have gone to youth camp for two years. Blaze, my horse, is a 25-year old Morgan/Welsh cross. I’ve had him for two and a half years. I use Blaze for trail, show and 4-H. My favorite thing to do with Blaze is trail ride, because Blaze and I both love to do it!

Here’s a story I’ll share about youth camp. One year at the end of camp, we had a scavenger hunt. My partner, Ryan, and I got a list and headed out. Some of the things on the list were: a bird’s nest, cobweb, butterfly, a hat and fruit (the rest I forgot). We searched all around the grounds and then met back at the tent. As each item was called out, each team held up their finds. The winning team got a prize and we broke up. We ate lunch and then came back for an awards ceremony, where I received “most improved” in my riding skills. It was a pleasant ending to camp!

I enjoy riding at Marcia’s barn and learning new skills that will help me be a better rider and help my horse listen to me better. I like training with Davalee because first we work on skills and then we get to play games and have fun at the end of the lesson. This helps my horse and I relax, and it gives both of us a kind of reward for our hard work.
